Topic #1 SCAD:EdTech Advancements Are Still Lacking 77% Enthusiasm: Stop, Change, Adopt, Digital

undefined

EdTech is advancing, changing to make the processes seamless for universities. But who is the one driving this change like one person, a professor, a university or a community?

If you are thinking I am going to answer that, please don’t as graduation was the toughest period of my life. I am not going to think twice on that direction.

However I am inquisitive about the CHANGE, like there is a massive change to how I graduated between verbal boring lectures of Professor X, Y and Zee compared to how little stars are studying today.

It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage CHANGE. –Charles Darwin

Most part of this CHANGE lies in making the processes DIGITAL, at least what I have seen, contradict? Comments section below is where you should be, shuu.

Even if the processes are made DIGITAL, unless there is each one of us to ADOPT that, it’s not going to make that effect.

Hence I think, do we need to STOP and think whether the EdTech advancements are really covering every concern of current education ecosystem?

STOP, CHANGE, ADOPT, DIGITAL #scadbytrootech is one such attempt to bring out the missing aspects which the digital advancements are maybe overlooking.

Matching up to this criteria, an innovative aspect I thought goes like this – After every lecture the teacher conducts an online test in the form of multiple choice questions, quiz, exit tickets, etc. Thus, assessing students on the basis of theories taught on the day itself. This way the students can ascertain their learning.

Not only the system works for students, the module can also consist of the feature wherein the students can review their learning of the session just after it.

In a nutshell, serving at both the teacher’s and student’s end, and reducing the long manual process to check upon the student’s knowledge out of the educated sessions as semester exams after 5-6 months. This concept can be well inter-wined as an Android or iOS App developed in native framework. What say?

POTENTIAL OF DRIVING A UNIVERSAL CHANGE FOR EDTECH ENTREPRENEURS

UNIVERSAL CHANGE

EdTech Startups are running big blank plan simply attached to pouring more and more digital elements to aid education.

Like how are video lectures even called a part EdTech? Students didn’t knew to watch videos before from YouTube? We too have made few videos for our community to learn and yes, we have uploaded on our YouTube channel TRooTech Business Solutions

I believe the whole point of EdTech should be to improve student – tutor interaction, tutor – management interactions and parent – tutor interactions. The knowledge sharing process, evaluation process, management process. These are all important, ain’t they?

Education is innately cultural, I have possibly analyzed education system of every geographic diversity and the idea I thought of was found to be UNIVERSALLY applicable.

It’s that general. Every education institute is conducting lectures of fixed time periods, students and tutors part from the lectures like having big time breakup.

So if only the students had a simple app in which they can mention how much they understood out of the aspects taught in the lecture immediately after it, would it not help Tutor evaluate complete class audience and get a peek into everyone’s grasping power?

Let these results be visible to management and they will know what is the performance level of each student in every subject, the compatibility of students with the tutors and implicitly performance check of their tutors too.

The focus on explaining this process being present in geographically diverse education systems is simple, this idea can go wide as a SaaS tool for any Edpreneur, particular educational organization or say an EdTech Startup. After all, I am part of one business sense oriented development firm ;)

NOT IN PREDICTED EDTECH TRENDS? THAT’S INNOVATION

Student Assessments are the biggest part where advancements in K-12 Edtech are needed. The current testing ecosystem is drifting and from educators to students, all are highly disheartened which asks for the change, definitely!

Unhappy With Standardized Tests

Gallup Report

Gallup Report

2/3 of American parents consider there is high importance given to standardized testing in this country yet; public school parents feel stronger than private and other schools as private schools practically adopt creative methods and different approaches.

The industry is looking toward smaller, ONGOING ASSESSMENTS, and the development of alternative measures of achievement is accelerating, according to same report.

Educators have been feeling the pain however they are helpless sometimes. As teachers introduce students to more and more digital assessment, new challenges have arisen that can widen the gap between those with access and without access to technology at home. So technology is not the only solution, understanding the problem of long term tests and less collaborative learning is the only problem.

Management often looks at the problems from a very broad angle however they are short of thoughts when it comes to see multiple of responsibilities.

So after understanding all the stakeholders who care for the student learning in current education system are just blinded to see this idea?

I am your eye opener then, whatever but someone has to see the possibility of class to class immediate feedback system with customized questions and aspects related to the particular class conducted. That’s the idea, simple but digitized yet.

Assisting Startups with Innovation, Go-To-Market Strategies, Helping them Enlarge Adoption and Increasing Profitability is all we practice!

IF YOU ARE THE EDTECH ENTREPRENEUR, WHAT CONVENIENCE YOU ARE CREATING FOR THE STAKEHOLDERS WITH THIS IDEA?

Once launched in the market as SaaS tool, the application has got the potential to attract various Universities, Educational Boards, Education Institutes, Private Colleges, etc.

The feedback system in the application can be extensively used to help the students as well as the teachers to know their individual performance.

Digital learning leads to continuous feedback from content-embedded assessments, simulation, and flexible learning modules. When students are able to track their own progress, it inhibits motivation and healthy competition.

for Educators

As for the teachers, after every class, there will be feedback in the form of understood aspects and answers or queries to taught subjects from their students which will help them to know about their teaching abilities and look out for any further improvement in their topics.

for Parents

At the parent’s end, on the basis of cumulative feedback conducted and evaluated, their child’s performance in terms of their academic performance, grasping power, memory, etc, will be known by them for each individual class.

for Students

At the student’s end, they can review each of their subject topics in terms of queries, comments, and provide overall teaching feedback of their class.

for Management

At the stakeholder’s end, the feedback system will help the educational management to see the overall results and retain/remove teachers. This will get an approach to carry out further relationships.

WHAT COULD BE THE REVENUE MODELS TO LEVERAGE FROM?

Freemium Model for Universities

The EdTech Entrepreneur could go for allowing the free usage of the tool to the universities to implement class-by-class feedback system and charge them a combined usage fees post the free period

Revenue From Tool's Features

This model can be focused over the usage of features divided in packages of allowing 3 educator accounts and 100 student accounts to use the feedback system. Higher the number of stakeholders to use the tool, flexible charges could be set for the multiple upgrade-able packages.

Limited by Number of Feedbacks Allowed

Tool could be configured to allow certain number of feedback for fixed number of classes or sessions and the universities and educational institutes do buy more credits to conduct the feedback for more number of classes

PRACTICALLY ZERO STANDARDIZED TESTS NEEDED

STANDARDIZED TESTS

Talking about the digital reforms, this concept has never thought of being digital if you think of traditional classroom studies. Possibly this sort of feedback goes in the form of queries after the sessions and few nerdy students only go to teachers to ask them. What about rest of the 80% class?

I have seen digital transparent screens and the talk of surface apps for teachers and students in a classroom, specifically in sci-fi movies however that’s all a technological reform.

Technological reform is separate from digital reform. The main difference is not only to decorate the physical entities with digital screens but is to think of what was not possible with physical structure and what new possibilities could arise making things digital. Like digital screens will be attached to systems which run on different OS like Android, Mac, Windows and most importantly can accommodate the applications, run them.

Concentrating on the errors think of how many such after class queries could be remembered by the students or teachers? Even if the teacher resolves it up, students are not going to remember post 10 – 15 days. When these queries and session topics are present on the app in everyone’s account, it’s all there for lifetime to refer.

After evaluating all the feedback, the records can be stored in a database so that all the updated information about the progress of an individual can be obtained.
